Dolcena™ 2 In 1 Straightening Brush (Negative Ion)

The DOLCENA Ionic hot comb is a practical hair tool that straightens the hair faster than using a traditional iron.

I have thick, curly long hair, the comb straightened my hair well, leaving it soft, smooth, shiny and healthy looking. It also helped smooth the frizz down.

The hair comb is easy to use and heats up quickly. The handle is comfortable to hold and is not too heavy on the hand. There are 4 adjustable heat levels from 290 degrees F to 410 degrees F so you can choose the appropriate setting for your styling needs.
The anti-scald feature prevents the heat from burning the hair, scalp or the hand.

The convenient and compact design, together with dual voltage feature makes it easy to travel with.

I have thin wavy black hair so getting this hair straightener over the regular flat iron seemed like a better option.

Now for the straightener specs itself, it can be plugged into 110V-240V which is great because you can take it overseas when travelling and wouldn’t have to worry about finding a voltage transformer.

The cord is a pretty decent length, not too long or too short. It's around 5ft which is an adequate length to plug near your vanity.

There are 4 temperature settings. Each setting is listed for a different texture of hair
302F/150C for thin, fine or bleached hair.
338F/170C for dyed or dark coloured hair
374F/190C Normal or slightly curly hair (My favourite temperature)
410F/210C Thick, Curly and Wavy Hair

Some people complain that the temperature doesn’t exceed 450F/230C. However, with my hair type, thin to normal black wavy hair, the third level setting has plenty of heat! You want to use the least amount of heat for your hair type because more heat results in more heat damage to the hair.

I have used this hair straightening comb on myself and I have to say that although it is a comb plus straightener combined, you do need to brush or comb out your hair prior to straightening. Do not rely on this straightener to brush and straighten simultaneously.

I did try to brush my hair with the straightener but my hair started snagging and taking out very minor hair knots is very difficult.

You cannot simply run this on your head as no hair will go inside of it. You have to wiggle your hair into the comb then slowly slide down to properly get the results you want.
Straightening hair with this is actually much faster than a flat iron which is why I am geared more towards keeping this in my straightening routine.

Be sure to use a good heat protectant spray as with all types of heat applications on the hair because a lot of damage can be prevented!

Overall, there definitely is a slight learning curve to this straightener but once you get a hang of it, you will be straightening within no time!

Definitely recommend for people who have a hard time with a flat iron. The straightener does straighten hair with great results! Much sturdier and long lasting than the straightening brushes. The rubber tips of those kept breaking. That will not be an issue with this product.

Well I have to say that I don’t think I have quite mastered the learning curve for this straightener brush contraption.
I have fairly long slightly wavy hair and I will straighten it once every week or two. I thought this would be a neat device to try out and see if it saved me any time. So far, it hasn’t. I think that’s a ‘me problem’ and not necessarily any fault of the straightener!
I was hoping to be able to use this to defrizz and straighten out some kinks while hopefully gaining some volume at the root. It does de frizz a bit but nothing special and it straightens some but I don’t think I have the knack for it yet.
You can get a little volume by putting it bristles side up under a layer of hair and rolling the brush away from the scalp. I’m sure with more practice, I’ll be able to do this better.
As far as straightening, I’ll leave that to my flat iron.
Not bad, just not for me.

I've been looking for a straightener for a while now and liked that this would give me less heat damage. I have pretty thick wavy to curly hair which is a little harder to straighten with this kind of mechanism. The slits are thin in the straightener so it would help to brush hair prior to straightening. I do appreciate the packaging as it makes it very travel friendly.

cost more than expected at 50 dollars, but it's very easy to use and seem to work fairly well. I would recommend this more if it can be found under 40 dollars.
